Savannah the Baker

Savannah loves to bake, and usually does so most Sunday afternoons.  A couple Sundays ago, she baked this little cake from scratch, made the frosting from scratch, and made the fondant for the roses & leaves from scratch.  She made all of this and decorated it with no help from Joel and I.  But she did have a little sister assistant:

She made the cake to share with our dinner guests that evening, the sister missionaries and two new members of our ward.  We love it when Savannah bakes on Sundays!

Korea Week Talent Show

Every fall, Seoul Foreign Elementary School holds Korea Week, where students celebrate Korean culture through food, music, and art.  Lizzie was able to participate once again in the Korea Week talent show, as she and her classmates danced the Puppet Dance, a traditional Korean dance:

Trick-or-Treat X 2

This year, our kids got to go trick-or-treating twice.  On Saturday, we were invited to the U.S. military base to go trick-or-treating in the embassy neighborhoods with some friends from church, from the English branch.  And then tonight, Halloween, we went trick-or-treating to the expats' homes in our neighborhood.  Too much candy, I say!  Here are some random pictures from both nights.

Sometimes people tell Joel he looks like Christopher Reeves.  So he finally decided to buy a Superman shirt and get some Clark Kent glasses.  I think he looks better than Christopher Reeves, but perhaps I'm biased.

Lizzie told me tonight that she has never seen a black cat as big and fat as me before.  Thanks for the honesty, Lizzie.

Broccoli Bean Burrito

There is a new little Mexican taco shop near Joel's work.  A couple times, he has brought us home some take-out from there for dinner.  Last time, I told him I wanted a vegetarian burrito.  The only one on the menu is the Broccoli Bean Burrito, so I decided to try it.  It was delicious!  But, I'll admit, the broccoli addition was pretty weird.

Breakfast for a Big Girl

A couple weeks ago, I gave Sarah a bowl of cereal for breakfast, to eat all by herself.  You can see how surprised and delighted she was.  And yes, she did end up picking up the bowl and dumping it in her lap after a few minutes.  But, that was to be expected.  Now, she is getting better at it, but I have to watch her very closely.  Our little girl is growing up!

The kids taught Sarah how to go down the slide this week.  They helped her up the steps and got her seated at the top of the slide.  Then, to our surprise, Sarah was willing to wiggle and push herself off, coming down alone.  What a brave little girl for her first day of sliding lessons!

Sarah loved swinging on Savannah's lap.  She especially loved Andrew's entertainment while she swung.
